WHO WE ARE

The California Neurodiagnostic Society is a professional organization composed of technologists who perform tests in the field of Neurodiagnostic Technology.

Neurodiagnostic Technology (NDT) is the medical diagnostic field that is dedicated to the recording of bioelectrical activity of the nervous system. Neurodiagnostic Technologists are allied health professionals who possess the knowledge and skills to obtain quality, interpretable recordings. They work under the supervision of licensed physicians.

NEURODIAGNOSTIC TEST MODALITIES :

  • Electroencephalography (EEG)
  • ICU EEG, or Long-Term Monitoring (LTM)
  • Evoked Potentials (EP)
  • Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring (IONM)
  • Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
  • Autonomic Reflex Testing (ART)
  • Polysomnography (PSG)

Clinical Neurodiagnostics encompass assessing the brain, spinal cord, and nerve pathways. It also includes testing multiple physical functions during sleep and critical care. The results of these diagnostic tests are recorded by qualified technologists and interpreted by physicians to diagnose a broad spectrum of potentially life-threatening neurological disorders.

Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring involves assessing brain, spinal cord, nerve, and muscle function during surgeries that carry a significant risk of stroke and paralysis. This type of neurophysiological service is performed by qualified technologists with real-time supervision by physicians. Depending on the level of complexity and risk of the surgery, the physician supervisor may be present on-site, or securely connected using a teleconference system from a remote location in a real-time.
